M3A1 Stuart Light Tank.
The M3 Stuart was an American light tank that was designed to replace the obsolete M2s. The M3 was constructed with stronger armor, a trailing idler wheel, and an expanded hull to balance weight distribution and decrease ground pressure. A Continental W-970-9A seven-cylinder radial engine brought the beast to life, and it was equipped with a stabilized 37mm M6 gun. Rugged and reliable when introduced, as the war progressed, the M3 required upgrades to contend with new German counterparts, ultimately resulting in the M5 series of light tanks.
