The North American B-25 Mitchell established itself as an undeniably proficient mid-size bomber during WWII. The aircraft saw service in virtually every theatre of the war and was the most versatile aircraft of its kind. The aircraft was instrumental during the Doolittle Raid when sixteen aircraft took off from the USS Hornet and embarked for Japan. Later variants of the B- 25 grew into the most heavily armed aircraft of the war, with no less than eighteen machine guns and an array of other offensive weaponry.
