Description:
Revell 85-5535 P-51B Mustang 1/32 Scale Model Kit
The P-51 Mustang from World War II is the most well-known fighter aircraft ever built. Originally designed to fill an order from the British government, the P-51 was built by North American Aviation. The first examples did not show much promise, until a switch was made to the Rolls-Royce engine. By 1944, the skies over Europe were dominated by the Allies, thanks to the P-51 Mustang. The P-51B is the earlier version of the Mustang, before the switch to the bubble style canopy. These early P-51s were instrumental in developing the tactics that were needed to defeat the Luftwaffe and safely escort the bombers to the targets. The best approach proved to be attacking the enemy long before they could reach the bombers. The P-51s were referred to as fighter sweeps, and they were devastatingly effective.
